Red Hearts/Black Tongues
RED HEART/BLACK TONGUES was an installation environment featuring two cars, two taxidermy deer, a giant marquee heart, 3 channels of video with sound (one channel in each car on specially coated plexiglass and a large central channel on the back wall), midi controlled lighting, and audio.
The gallery was setup to resemble a sound stage, which also included a light bank surround with both tungsten and heat bulbs. Within each car was a holographic projection of a driver. In the center of the gallery was a large video projection the related to the drivers.
The media program contained lighting events that would trigger at various points throughout the videos, as well as during the intermission between video loops. In addition to the heat of the lights, a large subwoofer was set on the floor of the gallery for additional visceral affect.
The video and lighting sequence was approximately 4 minutes in length with a 6 minute interlude to view the sculpture before the sequence repeated.
