Every Thing Looks Permanent Until it's Secret is Known
A multi-media sculptural work consisting of an ipod, an amplifier, a computer, a plant and a large format photograph. Streaming from the internet on the ipod was the musical essay O by GZA—a bonus track from Dreddy Kruger's Wu-Tang Meets Indie Culture featuring Jim Jarmusch as the reader. It played though an amplifier that was mic'd into a computer. On the machine ran internet dictation software attempting to decipher and type the words being spoken. Hanging amongst the equipment was a framed large format photograph taken of the installed piece. For each installation of the sculpture a new photograph is taken at the new venue and displayed with the tableau.
Amplifier, microphone, mic stand, wooden plinth, iMac computer, a living plant having survived 365 days in my care, and framed archival inkjet print. Dimensions variable. 2015.
